Resonate Live Worship Album Recording in Honor of Amanda - Nov. 11th, 2016
A few months after Amanda went to be with Jesus, I took a team of people to a cabin in Southern Indiana to spend a weekend crafting ideas for a worship album. When you walk through seasons of shock, trauma, and grief you realize that often the only thing that can truly reach into the depth of your soul and heal some dark corners of your heart is music. I can’t tell you how many songs, especially worship songs, I’ve listened to on repeat just to salve the wounds of my heart.
For that reason we wanted to produce some music that communicates the truths we’ve been leaning on as we’ve walked through this past year in hopes that it helps people as they walk through their own trials. On November 11th, 2016, the 1-year anniversary of Amanda’s death, the Resonate Band will be recording a live worship album. These songs are powerful reminders to us of God’s faithfulness even in the most horrific of circumstances. I knew that if we didn’t plan anything for the 1-year weekend we’d be caught on our "emotional heels" and get wrecked by grief and sorrow on that day. Instead I want to turn that day into a continuation of pushing back the darkness and reclaiming territory that our spiritual enemy has stolen from us. The devil flees at the sound of God's people lifting up the name of Jesus. I want to make a statement to the enemy (and frankly to my own heart) that Satan has no claim on either our lives or Amanda’s legacy.
We’re going to hold this at the church where Amanda grew up and where Amanda and I got married, First Baptist Church, Elkhart. Imagine the very sanctuary where Amanda fell in love with Jesus and grew to trust Him being filled with voices lifting up the name of King Jesus in her honor!
